How to Clean Artist Brushes?

Effective cleaning promotes proper performance of the brush and increases its lifespan.
1. Rinse immediately following utilization.
Rinse the brushes with warm water as soon as the painting is complete to prevent the brushes from drying out in the bristles. Gently take away the extra paint without pulling or twisting the hairs.
2. Use either Mild Soap or a Brush Cleaner.
For watercolor and acrylic brushes, a mild detergent or dedicated brush cleaner is usually necessary. For oil painting, utilize a first solvent that is both gentle and efficient.
3. Rearrange the Bristles
After cleaning, reshape the brush’s tip with your fingers to reconfigure it in its original state.
4. Dry with the proper amount of water
Use the bottom of the brush to scrape away from the flap, or utilize the bristles to hang the brush from the flange and allow water to flow away from the ferrule. This will prevent damage and will also loosen.
5. Preserve the correctness
Once the brush is completely dry, store it in a solid or protective case to maintain the bristles in a clean and well-shaped state.
